With this development most property owners are beginning to realize the importance of proper management of their real estate, hence the increasing need for qualified real estate professionals.This degree programme is designed to fill the skills gap in the real estate industry by producing highly qualified property professionals who are able to enter the workforce with a relevant qualification, fully recognized by employers, government and professional organizations. The degree will offer industry qualified professionals that appreciate the theory and practice of the real estate industry and general business both at local and international levels.

Entry Requirements

  • Candidates must have obtained at least five (5) Credits at BGCSE (or equivalent) including a pass in English language. OR
  • Candidates must have completed a relevant 12 months Botswana Training Authority (BOTA) recognised and accredited Certificate in Real Estate. OR
  • Candidates must have completed a relevant Diploma in Real Estate or its equivalent.
  • Special Entry: Candidates who do not have the minimum academic qualifications stated above but have a minimum of three years relevant work experience will be considered upon satisfying the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board.


Programme Structure

  • The Degree programme will run over duration of 48 months (4 years) for full-time learners and sixty months (5 years) for part-time learners
  • The programme consists of 32 Modules plus 6 months compulsory work related attachment, which is done in the level 3 or third year and assessed in terms of BA ISAGO University Workplace/Internship policy.


Assessment

Learners will be assessed on the basis of the following:

  • Coursework
  • Mid-term examinations
  • Workplace Attachment
  • Final examinations


Lectures

Lectures are held as follows:

  • Part-time: 17.30-20.00 Monday to Friday
  • Full-time: 8.00- 17.00 Monday to Friday

OBJECTIVE
Occupational Health and Safety is a field concerned with creating an environment that is conducive for work by protecting the health, safety and welfare of workers/employees. This programme is designed to introduce learners to the theory and practice of Occupational Health and Safety through a combination of teaching methods.

Entry Requirements
1.     Applicants must have obtained at least four credits at Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education or its equivalent including a pass in English language. OR
2.     Special Entry: Candidates who do not have the minimum academic qualifications stated above, but have three years relevant work experience in a related field will be considered. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be used as an instrument for further assessment of mature-entry candidates.

Department : Landscape Architecture and Quantity Surveying

Programme Duration : 4 Years

Description

Objectives : 

Quantity Surveyors operate in all sectors of the business environment and primarily focus on financial management of construction projects. This QS qualification curriculum is designed to cover a whole range of skills and knowledge that modern quantity surveyors require to perform their work efficiently and effectively. The Bachelor of Science Degree in Quantity Surveying aims to equip student with specialised skills and techniques which enable them to provide independent, objective, accurate and reliable capital and operating cost assessment for investment funding, project administration and control. The programme is designed to enable students to have skills of quantity surveying in commercial management of construction, quantification & costing of construction works, procurement & tendering, construction technology. 


Career Objectives : 

Graduate of this programme are expected to gain employment in the public sector, consulting quantity surveying firms, construction companies and other players in the construction industry as well as self-employment. They can work in areas of:

  • Building and engineering
  • Construction cost modeling
  • Quantity surveying
  • Project management
  • Property development


Entry Requirements :

  1. Applicants must have obtained at least five (5) credits at Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (or its equivalent) including mathematics and physics plus a pass in English Language. OR
  2. Candidates must have completed a relevant Diploma in Quantity Surveying or its equivalent.OR
  3. Special Entry:Candidates who do not have the minimum academic qualifications stated above, but have five years relevant work experience in a related field, will be considered upon satisfying the requirements of the Academic Affairs Board that might include an entrance interview.

Objectives 

The programme is designed to enhance the competencies and upgrade the knowledge of Property Managers; Owners; Consultants and Practitioners. Changes in socioeconomic and political environment make it essential for Real Estate Practitioners to stay abreast with developments in the property industry, specifically relating to marketing, laws, social dynamics planning and development, property management, financing, and investments. At the end of this programme, participants will have an extensive overview of the real estate industry and be knowledgeable in real estate laws and regulations

  • It also provides a good opportunity entry at lower levels of the profession for holders of BGCSE passes and other school leavers wishing to pursue a career in Real Estate Management.

  • Must have successfully completed the Certificate in Real Estate from BA ISAGO or its equivalent. OR
  • Special Entry: Candidates who do not have minimum academic qualifications stated above but have a minimum of three years uninterrupted work experience in any real estate industry or related field will be considered.


Programme Structure

The Diploma programme will run over a duration of twenty-four months for full-time learners and thirty months for part-time learners (four semesters in twenty four-months, consisting of six months each).The programme is divided into 15 core modules.

Programme Duration : 1 Years

Description

Objectives 

CRE is designed for pre-service and in-service candidates already in employed in the real estate industry, who are keen to acquire knowledge and skills in order to acquire formal qualifications. 
Knowledge gained will enhance productivity and professionalism, and allow graduates to gain recognition from the Real Estate Institute of Botswana (REIB), as per the Real Estate Professional Act of 2003.

Enhancing Career Opportunities 

Upon completion graduates will be able to work competently in the real estate industry, and will have he necessary foundation to further pursue property valuation, facilities management, and property management as a profession. 

The programme is targeted at practicing individuals, from both private and public sectors, who need to merge the knowledge they have gathered with up-to-date global trends in the Real Estate Industry. The programme acts as a foundation and entry into higher qualifications, articulating into Diploma and Degree level Programmes in Real Estate. 

Entry Requirements
  1. Candidates must have obtained their BGCSE qualification and have achieved at least three credits which must include English Language.
  2. Higher qualification will be an added advantage.
  3. Special Entry: - Candidates who do not have the minimum academic qualifications, as stated above, but have a minimum of two years uninterrupted industrial experience in real estate will be considered. In such cases candidates will have to undergo interviews for in-depth assessment, and meet the Academic Affairs Board requirements.
