ACTING DEAN’S MESSAGE
Morvyn N. Nyakudya (PhD)
The School of Graduate Studies and Research is the newest establishment in the University and complements all Faculties in so far as post graduate programmes are concerned. It caters for all post graduate programmes offered by the four Faculties: Commerce, Built Environment, Arts and Science, Education as well as Law and Paralegal Studies. When fully functional, the school will run a total of twenty-three post graduate certificates, diplomas and degrees. These are market niche programmes that are unique in the country and have been developed with consultation from top Universities in the region. The school is also responsible for directing research initiatives of the University, ensuring that the research output is of top quality.
SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES AND RESEARCH
The School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) is crucial to the rolling out of the BA ISAGO University vision and mission statements. We envision that Graduate and Post Graduate study programs will give life to the university as graduate students attend different programs that enrich the learning environment at BA ISAGO. As core to knowledge management, BA ISAGO University, through the School, participates in building of a knowledge economy by providing learners with industry focused programs. The research component is well integrated into the programs and is even integrated into community services.
At its peak, the school shall create educational opportunities to diverse groups of members of the society. The programs shall be offered in various modalities to cater for the working class, those in different faraway places and even those who are taking learning opportunities head-on after being out of academic space for a long time.
In order to provide quality and effective programs, the School shall observe all parameters of quality and relevance by conforming to established Botswana Qualification Authority (BQA) Standards and even to institutional regulations. It is hoped that through the Graduate School, the University will become competitive in today’s rapidly changing academic landscape.
PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER INSTITUTIONS
The SGSR is continually looking for win-win partnerships in the country, region and the entire world.
To date, a memorandum of Agreement has been signed between BA ISAGO University and Glasgow Caledonian University with the major aim of promoting research and teaching. Currently, this agreement is seeing the development of short courses in risk management and insurance.
